BBC Good Food Magazine, Test Kitchen for web and print content and special events
This exciting commission for the fit-out of a retail unit in the media village in White City will deliver a new studio kitchen and event space for BBC Worldwide and their hugely popular Good Food brand.
BBC Good Food is a global food media brand, with a monthly magazine, website, app, live events and series of books. Christine Hayes as BBC Good Food’s first brand editorial director. In November 2014 the BBC Good Food brand celebrated its 25th anniversary.
The team test 8-10 recipes a day during the testing period each month and produce a huge amount of content for both print and online. The brand is strong and regularly appears at the top of a recipe web-search.
As well as a test kitchen for shoots and video studioshaw suggested that the space should easily convert into a venue for food related events, for example wine tasting, book launches, supper clubs and cooking masterclasses.
The budget was small and so we proposed to simply line the blockwork walls to a datum of 2.4m with OSB board stained white.
The space was divided into fixed (pink) and movable elements (green) and the flexible furniture was made from off-the-shelf components and the metal parts painted in R, G, B, reflecting the history of TV production on the site.
