Brintons 2017, Clerkenwell Design Week

With a history of weaving dating back to 1783, Brintons is a leading UK carpet manufacturer and designer with a reputation as one of the world’s premier carpet producers. As Royal Warrant Holder, Brintons has carpeted the worlds most prestigious locations; from palaces to hotels and cruise liners to airports.

As part of Clerkenwell Design Week, Studioshaw were asked to design an exhibition space for Brintons who have collaborated with contemporary artist Shezad Dawood for a pop-up art installation at General Project’s new creative workplace venue, Technique. We transformed a working loading bay into a gallery and installation space which will also be used for a series of talks and events throughout the week.

Stusioshaw also designed a series of temporary pavilions on an adjacent car park space, used as a meeting space for Brintons design team and clients. These intimate spaces, created from an elegant adaption of the humble garden shed, are lined in some of Brintons beautiful and unique carpets.

Candida Gertler OBE, Director of Studiomakers Initiative; "It is overwhelming how a simple, resourceful and economical idea/vision can turn a very uninspiring space into one of the coolest venues in London. A great environment for a world class contemporary art installation and related events!"
