Project description
Eastleigh Court is the refurbishment, extension and decarbonisation of a Grade II listed estate set within 5.5 hectares of landscaped grounds in Wiltshire. The project brings the building back into use as short-stay accommodation, with space for events and gatherings.
Years of office use have altered the building and stripped away much of its original character. The project restores key features, removes later additions and returns the house to a use that reflects its original scale and character.
New build elements are constructed using timber and limestone, including a ground floor extension and pavilion building. The landscape proposal includes 515 new trees, long grasses and native wildflowers, alongside a new wildlife pond. Together these elements reintroduce structure and biodiversity to the site, creating a series of spaces for staying, walking and gathering
The project will become part of the wider life of the estate, somewhere people can come together, spend time and enjoy the building and its surroundings. It is about giving Eastleigh Court a sustainable future through a use that feels both appropriate and enduring.

Aerial view of Eastleigh Court set within its landscape, with the new extension and pavilion building defined by standing seam copper roofs.
The new extension replaces an existing poor quality 1990's brick one in the same location. This new room is designed to accommodate up to 60 guests. The timber framed extension is faced with limestone and features a stepped gable end, a nod to the stone mullions and two storey bay window of the original building.
The new dining room extension opens onto expansive views of the surrounding parkland. Tall windows frame the landscape, while a gently curved ceiling adds a sense of surprise and drama. Image by Forbes Massie.
Proposed ground floor plan. The interior of Eastleigh Court is to be refurbished with modest interventions which preserve the plan form of the original building.

The low-slung pavilion is clad in limestone, with a hipped standing seam copper roof.
Detailed Section. The pavilion has a square footprint, with a multi-functional, acoustically sealed room at its centre
The pavilion building has a sauna, steam room and gym around its perimeter. Large limestone blocks create oversized window surrounds and gentle curves around openings bring light into the depth of the plan.
